Enjoy Frederiksværk canal

Take a trip on Frederiksværk's canal

The perfect nature experience for the whole family, or you who just want to enjoy the silence through the forest and the experience of seeing the fjord open where the canal ends. Are you in a holiday home, or on a 1-day excursion, it is an obvious opportunity to swing past us.

We offer complete packages, with canoe and accommodation in charming surroundings. If you take the other road, the trip goes towards Roskilde fjord, where there are many excursion opportunities along the coast. Both towards Hundested but also down into the fjord towards Frederikssund and Roskilde.

When planning your trip on the water with us, it is important to dress appropriately to ensure comfort and safety throughout your experience. The weather in Denmark can be changeable, and proper clothing is the key to a good day on the water.

For Cooler Days:

  • Inner layer: This layer is essential to keep the body warm and dry. Choose materials that are good at transporting sweat away from the body, such as technical ski underwear or wool that has excellent thermal and moisture-regulating properties.
  • Middle Layer: An insulating fleece sweater acts as the perfect middle layer. It offers extra warmth and can be easily added or removed depending on the temperature. Choose a jersey that is light and breathable.
  • Outer layer: A wind and waterproof jacket (and possibly trousers) is essential to protect against wind and water. Make sure your outer layer has good breathability to avoid condensation inside from body heat.

For hot days:

  • Even on warm days, the weather can change and it is important to be prepared. A light and breathable T-shirt or long-sleeved shirt in quick-drying material is ideal as a base layer.
  • Sun protection: Remember to protect yourself from the sun with a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen. Long-sleeved shirts and trousers in light materials can also provide sun protection.
  • Waterproof Packing: Even if it's hot, it's wise to bring a light rain jacket and extra clothes packed in a waterproof bag or container. This ensures that you can change into dry clothes if the weather changes or if you get wet.

Footwear:

  • Waterproof and non-slip footwear is important for both safety and comfort. Hiking shoes, waterproof sandals or special kayak shoes can protect your feet from sharp objects and keep them warm even when wet.

Extra Tips:

  • Gloves: On cooler days, neoprene gloves or paddling gloves can provide extra warmth and protection against blisters.
  • Dry suit or wet suit: For the more adventurous or in colder weather conditions, a drysuit or wetsuit can provide significant comfort and protection from the elements.

By dressing correctly, you can ensure that your canoeing or kayaking experience is as comfortable and safe as possible, regardless of the weather.
